Growing up and moving out, 2004.

Fishwick's memoirs recount his childhood in Roanoke, Va., college days at the University of Virginia as a scholarship student, midshipman's school at Northwestern, and a few pages about navy life in World War II. Fishwick notes briefly that wnen the U. Va. students heard the news of Pearl Harbor they painted a Japanese flag on the Rotunda with the legend "Sink the rising sun." Professors mentioned are James Southall Wilson, Peters Rushton, and A.M. Balz. He also mentions local girls Meda Tilman, Ellie Wood Keith and Calais.
